Giambattista Valli mille Feuille
At Lune, we think a dinner party is like a great dance, from the dinnerware and decor to the ambience and conversation. It can be exciting, thought-provoking and always a bit magical to gather together and see how it all unfolds. That’s why for our First Tableau, I looked to ballet, and in particular, the tutu for its ability to convey both a sense of femininity and strength. I also looked to designers like Christian Lacroix, Molly Goddard and Giambattista Valli, who have all used tulle to weave fantastic narratives of drama, joy and fantasy. Just like the theatrics of a ballet or a great couture show, our first tableau is also a performance, looking for its next audience.
Tableau’s meaning comes from Old French and translates to picture, however it has long been used to describe a vivid living scene. At any dinner at Lune, we set this scene with a tablecloth. Long forgotten as a table covering, our tablecloths are our canvases, setting the tone for everything to begin—from the flowers and dinnerware to the menu itself. Our tablecloths are inspired by iconic silhouettes from fashion, art and design and are designed to be your beautiful canvas—a canvas for everything yet to come.
Handmade in Canada, our First Tableau is made to order for your purchase or available to be rented for special occasions.
